Canadian Reformed Church of Elora

The church holds that the Bible is the true Word of God, without error, written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit; that God is Trinity, three distinct yet equal persons at work in creation and redemption; and that those who repent and trust in Christ receive forgiveness and are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. It also holds that a number of historic creeds and confessions faithfully sum up the teaching of Scripture.

The Canadian Reformed Church of Elora was instituted on September 6, 1987 to serve the growing Fergus–Elora community alongside the Maranatha Canadian Reformed Church in Fergus. It began with 15 members and grew to more than 200. The congregation first met in Salem Public School and built its own church in 1991 on Wellington Road 7 just north of Salem; the building was renovated in 2011 to accommodate growth. The church belongs to Classis Northern Ontario of the Canadian Reformed Churches.

Two services are held every Sunday, morning and afternoon, and both are livestreamed on YouTube; sermons are also available as podcasts. The church invites visitors to be refreshed and renewed by the preaching of the gospel and the fellowship of believers.

What to expect

Services run about an hour and centre on a Bible-based message. The congregation sings together accompanied by organ or piano, hears Scripture read and prays as a congregation; the Lord's Supper is celebrated about every two months for confessing members and for visitors with an attestation from their home congregation. A nursery is available in both services, greeters and ushers assist visitors, and a host family is ready each week to welcome visitors into their home.
